RE: Home Folder - Users Shared Folders Issues

Hi Mike,

Thank you for posting.

From the description, I understand this issue is that you cannot share
folder to some specific users, even using security group. If I am off base,
please don't hesitate to let me know.

Just wonder how did you share your files? The file permission in a shared
folder is combined with security permission and sharing permission. It
choose the most restrict one. By default, sharing permission is set to
everyone read. So, even if you allow users to fully control the
files/folders in security permission, he is still only be able not read,
but not write due to the sharing permission. Hence, Let's do the following
steps together to share this folder, then to see how everything goes on?

1. Right click the folder your want to share, click properties, click
sharing tab, choose share this folder, type the name. Then click
permissions, click Add, type in the name of the security group, then click
check name. After found the group, click OK.

2. Choose the security group in the list give the group appropriate
permissions, then click OK. (Also you can change the everyone's permissions
depends on you)

3. Click the Security tab, click Add, then type the security group name,
give the group appropriate permissions, then click OK.

4. Please check whether the group members can access this folder. If not
please return to the steps 3, on the security tab, click advanced, uncheck
the "Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to propagate to this
object and all child objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined
here." box, click remove if it pop up a dialogue box, then manually add
users and security group by click add¡ button. Then redo step 1 & 2.

5. Please test the issue.

If the issue persists, please tell me how you defined your security group.
