Re: SBS 2003 Backup repeatedly failing

Hmm, so you think it's failing because I'm backing up over the network
instead of locally? I'll try backing up to a USB 2.0 drive and will
see how it goes. That can definitely work.
Thanks!

Hi Joseph
I apologize! I had a database failure in OE and lost this thread. My
suggestion is to get a 2 or 3 USB 2.0 External drives and Backup to them so
that you will be able to totate the drives and have Disaster recovery data
offsite in event of fire, theft, or other disaster.

Is there anything else I can do to combat this problem? It's been a
while since I've had a good backup.
Any feedback would be great
Thanks

For several weeks now SBS 2003's backup has been failing repeatedly.
On occasion it will be successful, but I have not been able to figure
out why. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of what changes were made when
the backups started to fail.
The backups occur nightly, and are saved to a harddrive with sufficient
capacity on a shared folder on another PC. Other applications backup
to this same workstation at other times during the day with no problem.
I verified that the server does have read/write access to the shared
folder, as well as the availability of plenty of space.
The failure always seems to happen when it's between 30 to 40 gigs in
progress. The last successful full backup took up about 52 gigs.
At the time of failure, I see the following notable events the event
viewer, at the bottom of this posting is the latest backup log. Any
help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
