Does anyone know the major advantages of Backup Exec over NTBackup..

Before I get into what I want out of a backup program.. here is the
tape library/loader that we were planning on purchasing (DLT-S4):
http://www.quantum.com/AboutUs/ContactUs/Index.aspx

I'm assuming the only hardware we need with this unit are tapes and a
U320 SCSI card in a seperate Backup server? I'm assuming it has a
built in tape drive(s)? I also though it essentially had 8 tape drives
built in, but I'm beginning to think it only picks tapes and loads 1 at
a time? (if so is there a system that does say 4 or 5 at once?)

Key feature I'm hoping work with NTBackup are the ability to select
which tape to backup to..

Thanks for any input as this is our first venture into more Enterprise
level backup systems (our primary backup will be on a "backup server"
in a rack with 2TB of space in a raid 5 configuration, essentially
running 2003).

According to Quantum, they stated that NTBackup wont work with tape
libraries and loaders, that I'd have to go 3rd party.

I did check into the price, CDW quoted me a price for BE that is around
$3000.. one server license, 4 cals (agents) and two agents one for SQL
and one for Exchange. Frankly I dont know why I'd need to purchase
these cals and agents.. couldn't I just use BE and select my 4 server's
data drive letter (via network mappings).. then technically BE wouldnt
be running on those servers?

$3000 seems very steep to me, I expected $1000.

Your saying you think I would need 12 tapes doing what I will do?

A typical Full backup if we combine all server backups (currently on
seperate harddrives) is 800GB or so, by months end I project that to be
1.1TB. We do monthlys taking the tapes (harddrives) offsite each
weekend and keeping one tape (harddrive) offsite per quarter
(quarterly).

Our new Harddisk backup server array will be the main backup device
(tape will be secondary). Originally I was going to backup to the HD
array then backup the HD array to tape, but this makes restoring a
pain. Quantum recommended doing them seperate.. IE: doing the monthly
full to HD and another one to tape along with our nightly
incrementals....

Thanks
