I presume the modem/router has two interfaces, a public and a private (wan). You could put a small switch on the WAN port so you can connect both SBS servers there, on different IP addresses of course, but on the same subnet as the router WAN IP.

Hi Les,
My Netgear DG632 modem/router only has one port, which connects to the WAN interface on my production server. Next one I buy will definitely have some switch ports :(
Cheers,
Bill

Has the adsl modem/router also a switch - has it got unused ports? If so, connect your 'other' SBS there.

"Bill Glidden" <billyg1943@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote in message news:O4rTUf8MHHA.780@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxI am setting up an SBS server on a separate segment of my sbs network and want to be able to give it internet access without having to reconfigure my router and unplug my production SBS server every time I want to get updates, etc. My current setup is:
Internet---<adsl modem/router>---<sbs 2k3/isa 2k4>---switch---PC---<sbs 2k3 new>
As you can see, I have two nics in my management pc. I tried running ceicw on the new server and specifying the nic it is connected to on the pc as the gateway, but this did not work. I thought the dual-homed pc would act as a bridge or router, but it does not. How can I give the new server internet access with this setup?
TIA,
Bill
