Re: Email Question - multiple reading same box at once?

Meg,

Thanks for checking back on that. It sounds like you guys have a setup
that is functional to a point, but that now you've outgrown the
singular message store that Eudora / POP3 downloads offer you. I would
recommend you install a few Outlook 2003 clients on your workstations,
just to find out what Exchange 2003 is really made of. I guarantee it's
a step in the direction that you want to go, especially the part about
accessing each other's mailbox, and being able to read your mail while
others are reading theirs at the same time.

I am, but I'm using the pop3 downloader (not at work so might not be calling
that the right name) to get the pop3 email to the exchange server, and
getting it from there. Also, I checked at work and it says exchange 2003
comes with it.

He's using POP3 to access those mailboxes though. I was going to
suggest that if he's got SBS/Exchange 2003 that he use his included
Outlook 2003 licenses and get everybody up and running with MAPI.

You can give people access rights to other mailboxes and have those
show up as other foldress in their folder list. This can be done
through Outlook using Delegates, or through permissions in Exchange.
If you have acces to the server, it is easier to configure it on the
server. In Server Management, go to Users, Exchange Advanced, Mailbox
Rights and give additional users rights to the mailboxes, though I
would hesitate to just allow Everyone Full Rights. Give individual
users specific rights to individual mailboxes. Then, in Outlook, a
user can just go to Open, Other Users Data Folder.

I'll check when I get to work. It is whatever comes with Windows Small
Business Server 2003 R2.
