What version of Exchange are you running?

Hi. I posted a question awhile back about setting up a new server. Well I
got much of it set up today - things are going very well- all the computers
on the network see everything, everything is working fine, and I was able to
set it up on mapped drives so the files look just like they did when people
left on friday. I like this so far - I see some of the benefits already of a
server, just with two little things - having a login script only having to be
in one place and being able to update the computer's from one spot. Hopefully
no more running around from computer to computer to computer anymore editing
login scripts and installing updates - at least hopefully not as much anymore.
Anyway - the real reason of my post - We were having one problem with our
existing setup, that I'm hoping I can solve with this software. Our current
setup is we use Eudora to download pop mail, and we have ten people who each
have an email addresse, plus one general email address, and it all gets
downloaded into Eudora and sorted into folders. When you open up Eudora,
everyone can read everyone elses mail in the folders, and we want it that
way, because some people only work part time, or may be on vacation, and if a
client emails us we want to make sure someone can respond. Unfortunately
with this setup only one person can have Eudora open at a time, so if you
want to get into the email, you have to make sure whoever has it open closes
it first and run around the office asking does anyone have Eudora open. I
saw some links about being able to read multiple email addresses on the
server - from one account and am going to read those to figure out how to set
that up - but I did not see anything that says whether or not two people
could be reading the same email account at the same time - do you know? Is it
possible to have two people reading the same email at the same time? At the
moment I am sticking with our Pop3 setup and downloading the mail from there
into the exchange server - may go to a true mail server at some point, but at
the moment I really like the idea of having the ISP holding our mail in case
the server is off - we are a small office - about 8 people so that works ok
for us. Also it's nice if our email outboxes are accessible by everyone as
well in one place so people know if something has been respond to.
Also, just one more question - can you get exchange all set up with account
information and everything and test it so you know it's working, but tell it
to temporarily not collect mail? I'll be out of the office, and won't be
there to explain to people how to get their mail the new way, so don't want
it downloading mail while I am gone - they will still check the old way with
Eudora till I get back.
