Re: DNS setting keeps changing to router's IP

It sounds like it's running on the 2wire, and by design SBS stops
working (I'm not quite sure whether it shuts itself off or just acts as
a DHCP relay and "claims" credit for the service).

I would stop the DHCP service on SBS. Go back to a workstation, release
and renew, and if it receives an address via DHCP then for certain the
2wire's DHCP is *not* turned off. Or there's a second 2wire device
attached to your switch.

We have a new SBS2003 set up for a client. They have a 2wire router.
The SBS2003 DHCP scope options I have double checked and it's
definitely giving out it's own address for DNS to the clients - as it
should be. With a renewed IP address on a workstation, I can verify
that the proper DNS server is set and that the SBS domain is the
connection specific suffix.

After some time (couple hours I guess), do an IPconfig /all at the
workstation and the DNS server has been changed to the router's IP,
rather than the server's. The DHCP server says it's still the SBS2003.
The connection specific suffix is also changed to something like
"gateway.2wire.net", rather than the domain.local that I set on the
SBS2003.

I have verified that the router's DHCP has been disabled.

Does anyone know how these settings could be changing?
