Hi Anthony:
If I understand the meaning of "1st hard drive", that is ONE drive. Not a
good idea. You should have TWO hard drives in a mirror. SBS software
mirror, while disliked by many in this space, is better than no mirror.
So, get two new hard drives. Better, get an add on hardware controller that
allows mirrors to be created. And get one that has support and will allow
you to add back after a drive failure. Promise is one, Adaptec is another.
The type and cost depend on the kind of drives you have and or want, and the
kind of expansion slots available in your server.
In order of preference: SAS, SATA, IDE, aka ata or eide.
Once you have two drives and a mirror solution, then you can use the
software of your choice to move the existing install of SBS and all your
data folders to the new drive/partitions.
BTW, most would advise 4 drives, 2 mirrors, 2 for Windows, 2 for data, and
the debate about how many drives it really takes to support SBS, like Sonny
and Cher, goes on.

Good Morning,and
Happy New Year to everyone! We've been running SBS2003 for a while now
we are running out of space on the system C drive. It has 2 hard drivesin
it.new
The 1st hard drive has two partitions: C - 4GB and approx. 896MB free, D -
12.4GB and approx. 4GB free
The 2nd hard drive has one partition: F - 33.9GB and approx. 12.8GB
We've got two processors in it so I don't think we really need to get a
server. We're just running out of space. I am considering purchasing anew
hard drive with at least 100GB of storage, maybe more.Drive
If we get a very large hard drive, I'm thinking we could have 3 partitions
with approx. 33GB each. That should be plenty of space for the System
C. I then could get Norton Ghost and transfer data from each partitionwith
over. The problem is, I don't know how to do this. I'm not experienced
this and this is our only server so I don't want to make a mistake. Canif
someone tell me if I am going about this the right way? Any problems with
using Ghost on a SBS2003 server? I found out about it from a friend that
had some company do it for him for a new PC he got for home. They just
ghosted his old hard drive and put it into the new machine. I'm not sure
it is that easy with a server that has 2 hard drives in it.
Please advise, thanks!
