Re: Intel S5000PLS and 5400LX fan control problem

Hi Pedro:

You should, of course, be certain that the fans are connected to management
connectors on the mobo, and look in the bios to verify that those are set to
auto, or whatever. There should be a software app for you to load into the
os as well. Also, Intel is notorious for requiring that mobo bios be
upgraded, as opposed to others who prefer that you only flash the bios if
you have a recognized symptom. With Intel server class S5000xxx mobo you
can boot on the CDR that came with the system board, and if you are
connected to the internet it will find the correct site and allow you to
upgrade the bios and firmware.

If there is not a local phone number for Intel where you are, perhaps
www.intel.com?

I have one Intel Server, Mainboard S5000PLSSATA and 5400LX Chassis. My
OS is Windows Small Business Server R2 2003. I had Install all the
necessary drivers but i have one problem with the fan control. On Intel
Active System Console, witch is the software that came with this
Mainboard, under menu System Information > Cooling > Fans says "Not
Available", and fans are working on maximum speed, witch makes a big
noise. The last server i setup, it came with Intel Management Software
8.40, never had this problem, after installing this software, fans
reduce speed to necessary to cool down the processors. Does any one
know what am i doing wrong?

Thanks.
