Re: Standard DNS Server not found

For one thing, you have no default gateway listed on any connection.

I agree with Charlie...put a router in between the ADSL modem and your WAN
NIC. Make sure the router has a different LAN network (which will be the SBS
WAN side) than the SBS' LAN network. For example, set the router's LAN side
IP to be 192.168.3.1, then set your SBS WAN NIC to be 192.168.3.10 (I start
my servers at 10. You can put whatever you want).

Once you re-run the CEICW, it should create the DNS forwarders (which will
be your ISP's DNS servers) and the default gateway in the proper place.

For the nslookup problem, make sure you create a reverse lookup zone in the
DNS MMC.

Hello,

here is the History:
SBS 2003 R2 = OK
XP Pro Clients with DHCP Lease Ok
Internet via ISDN Card OK
Exchange not started yet
1 NIC for LAN via Switch
1 NIC for WAN not activated yet
I bought 2 two thick books and read a lot.
I read all relevant news in this group since August but didn't find a
solution.

---

Since 2 Weeks ADSL is available now:

My next steps:

NIC 2 activated
AVM Fritzbox SL (ADSL Modem) and Software installed
and CEICW started.
no failure messages
ISP Connection with ADSL-Modem Ok
Diagnostic Programm of Modem OK
But no Internet Transfer between SBS and Modem

Then:
Connection to the Website of the Modem OK
DHCP of Modem switched off
DHCP of SBS stays on and is working fine
Changed IP of WAN NIC.

New Start of CEICW

Situation now:
Can't reach Website of the Modem anymore, Ping is OK
No Internet
No Companyweb

NSLOOKUP shows now:
Servername for the Adress 192.168.16.2 could not be found
Non-existent domain
Standardserver: unknown
Adress: 192.168.16.2

Except "Configuration of DNS-Server " I tried about everything.

Then came to my mind: There is still the activ ISDN Card!
I deactivated it and erased the network connection.
My intentention was to keep the ISDN connection to be able to dial in
from my notebook from outside, in case if the ADSL Connection is down.
I know, not more than two Nics are allowed, but can I keep the ISDN
Card?

I changed the IP's of the NIC's according to the advices in this Group
and started CEICW again. But there is no difference.

The Software Modem Diagnosis is showing now:
No ADSL Modem found.
UPnP Service startet
Network: DHCP: Off
IP: 192.168.178.250
PLS activate automatic IP-Adress (???)

Shouldn't the IP for the NIC be static?

What shall I do??

Configuring DNS-Server ( I didn't dare to do it yet)?

restore an older version?

Format C: and new setup?

I wish everybody a happy new year and I would be very thankful if
somebody has a tip for me :-)

regards
Harry
