Just a side comment on USB drives vs. Tape.

I personally use eSATA, but regardless my point here is still the same.
Even though I use external drives for backup it should be stated that
using tape for offsite storage is generally considered *less* risky
than drives. The earlier post inferred the opposite. The reason for
this is that a drive is, well, a drive. A mechanical device with parts
sensitive to G forces. If you're taking it offsite then you risk
banging the drive around which could render it useless. A tape on the
other hand has no such aversion to G forces. As long as you're using
good tapes, rotating them out once they've reached their usage life
cycle, and keeping your drive in good condition then I'd have to
consider tape a safer offsite medium.

Again, I use drives. I understand the risk, do what I can to minimize
the risk, etc. but I've seen far more external drives lose data than a
good tape. And don't let anyone fool you, it isn't like USB is leaving
a good tape drive in the dust when it comes to speed (eSATA maybe, but
not USB)
