Since you have two NICs, we would like to see how you setup the TCP/IP. Please post the result of ipconfig /all.

Hi everyone,
I installed a new SBS 2003 this weekend and all went well. For the first
time, I choose to use 2 NIC's. The internet is PPPoE. Whenever the server is
rebooted, I have to go to the DNS settings and reload DNS to get internet
connectivity. I have set the forwarders to the ISP's DNS and the Clients DNS
to point only to the servers DNS. I also choose to let the Server do DHCP
and have set the scope properly. I initially ran the ceicw wizard and it has
all of the correct information as far as the ISP's static IP and DNS
properties and the correct login.
I don't think the problem is with the old router. It is a netgear FVS-318
v.3. I have disabled DHCP on it and disabled the PPPoE. It is set to obtain
address automatically. However, having said all of that, I am just using the
8 ports on the router, with nothing plugged in to the internet side and the
server feeds one of the ports. So in my mind, it is only just a switch, and
again I don't think that is the problem.
Question is, why do I have to reload DNS after rebooting? This is the third
time, and I have just RDP'd into the server and reloaded DNS for the domain
to make it work. With all of my other SBS networks, I've let the router
handle DHCP, but this time I decided to go by the book. The firewall
installed properly as far as I can tell.
A side question is (and this happens with all PPPoE customers I've setup up
even in XP), why does it always show "limited or no connectivity" on the icon
for the pppoe connection, even though it is connected and customers have
internet. Where I live a few of my clients that have DSL have old style
modems that you have to setup a PPPoE dialup and it always shows "limited or
no connectivity" .
Thanks
Jim
