I did not now that this is a standard configuration.
When you use the Add a User wizard and select the User template, by
default it applies a 1GB quota to the user.
There are a variety of opinions in this newsgroup as to whether the
quotas are useful or not. You disabled the quota, which solved your
immediate problem. However, disabling the quota (potentially) enables
users to grab a lot more space on the server share than you may want to
allow. If you want to keep the quota active but raise the limit, see
