Using calender and task in sbs ...

My company owns sbs but not started using it...we used to
retrieve email thru pop account ....
can i install calender and task stuff in exchange without
using mail ( i mean retrieve mail from internet rather than thru
exchange but task and
mail thing should be thru exchange ) ?

or is it advisable to retrieve mail from external pop account to
exchange ?

( i dont have static internet ip on exchange server , i have to do
alias thing for that ).
