RE: WSS 3.0 - WSUS and default web site issue in R2

Hello Terence,

I ve stoped WSS 3.0 and use Configuration Wizard to do the job properly.
I get option to change the default port. That dont modify existing WSS but
Add new one... Now a 2nd WSS 3.0 work (The 1th will remain off) on a
different port than 80 AND the default web work fine also.

I've removed SBS 2003 R2 from Ctrl Panel...remove msde but keep files
already downloded then reinstall it from SBS 2003 R2 CD6.
This setup finished with error but WSUS work again...
I'll dig in the log later, it's currently synchronizing...

Thanks for your help th'ast work!

Thierry

Hello Thierry,

Thank you for update.

For the port issue, I suggest we try to change the port the new site used.

1. Please open IIS manager, extend Web Sites, select the new web site
created by WSS 3.0 installation

2. Right click it, select Properties

3. Click Web Site tap, please change the TCP port to a no 80 port (i.e. 808)

4. Click Ok and then try to access the site via http://sbsname: 808

Then try to access default web site via http://sbsname, is it fine? If no,
please perform the following steps:

1. Please open IIS manager, extend Web Sites, select the Default Web Sits

2. Right click it, select Properties

3. Click Web Site tap, input 80 in TCP port box, then click Advanced button

4. Select the record in the Multiple identities for this Web site, click
Edit button

5. Input sbsname in the Host Header value box, click OK three times.

Then try to access default web site via http://sbsname, is it fine?

If the issue persists, please kindly help me collect some information for
further investigation:

Gather Metabase of IIS
=======
a. Install .NET Framework Version 1.1:

b. Install MBExplorer by installing IIS 6 Resource Kit Tools:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=56FC92EE-A71A-4C73-

c. Once it is installed, access it from Start, Programs, IIS Resources,
Metabase Explorer.

d. In the left pane, right click ''LM'' (under your server computer name)
to choose ''Export to file'', and then save it as IIS.mbk.

e. Compress this mbk file and send it to my mailbox: v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
for analysis.

Hope these steps will give you some help.

Thanks and have a nice day!

| Thanks for answer.
| I'll post also on WSUS.

| How do you explain the fact that WSS 3.0 setup stop IIS Default web that
run
| on port 80 and install it self on that port? So now http://sbsname
redirect
| to WSS 3.0.
|
| Is there a way to force WSS installation on other port than 80?
| I'll use your recomandation an go back to inform you
| Thanks and regards
