Re: Trend Micro Install Stuff-Up

Try that URL from a workstation on the lan, can you access the site from there?

Hi Bill,

I run Trend everywhere, java nowhere - no issues with the console. What's the URL of your Trend Security Console?

Hi Les,

I used an SBSfaq as a guide and it said to install Java first, so I though maybe there was some nexus between Java and ActiveX.

I have already tried putting the url into trusted sites, but it makes no difference.

IE is version 6.0

I am holding off on IE7 until issues have been found/cleared up.

I have another SBS 2K3 server and have looked for any IE differences - the Security Console's url is not listed in Trusted Sites.

Any more ideas, Les?

Cheers,
Bill

There's no requirement for java whatsoever, Bill.

Try putting the url into the trusted sites. The Active-X is probably blocked in whatever zone the site comes up in now.

You may have IE7, as well as the additional browser security for WS2k3 on the SBS? I'm not sure I've used the Trend Security console and IE7 yet, so there may or may not be issues with it.

I stupidly installed CSM for SMB 3.0 to a new SBS 2003 SP1 (Premium, but ISA and SQL not installed) without installing the Java virtual machine. When I launch the Security Dashboard and enter the admin password I get a warning message that an ActiveX control needs to be installed and can get no further. There is no IE pop-up which would allow the installation of the Control, either. I have subsequently installed the Sun JVM and restarted the server but get the same warning. I still do not get a pop-up allowing me to OK any ActiveX installs.
I am about to reinstall TM CSM, but thought I would ask if there was an easier way to recover the installation.
TIA,
Bill
