RE: user canot logon after prompted password change

I'm still getting the same error after going through the steps.

I'm emailing the screen shot as well as the event log.

Thanks,
Dylan

Hello Customer,

Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, I understand that clients can not log on SBS
server and you can not change accounts' password. If I have misunderstood
the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Based on my research, I suggest we try the following steps to see if we can
resolve this issue:

1. Create a new account with administrative rights.

2. Log onto the server with that new account. Test to see if you can change
a password on a user account

3. If you are able to successfully change a password using either SBS
Server Management or Active Directory Users and Computers then the profile
for the account that you were previously using is corrupt Rename the
ntuser.dat file in the profile of the administrative account that you
suspect is corrupt.

4. Copy the ntuser.dat file from the Default User profile into the profile
of the suspect account

5. Log back in as the original user and see if you can change a password
using either Active Directory Users and Computers or SBS Server Management

6. Change the password of problematic accounts, then try to log on SBS on
clients.

If the issue persists, please kindly help me collect some information for
further investigation:

1. Save the application event log and system event log as evt files on the
SBS and send to my mailbox: v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

2. Please capture a screenshot on the error message and send the picture to
me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hope these steps will give you some help.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Best regards,

Terence Liu(MSFT)
