Hi Steven,
Thank you for posting.
From your description, I understand that you received error eventsMSExchangeTransport 7010. If I am off base, please do not hesitate to let
me know.
Based on my experience, this Event is recorded if you enabled Diagnostics
Logging for MSExchangeTransport to Max.
Actually, those events can be safely ignored since they indicate that some
kind of relay attempt through the server. Since you get the "Unbale to
Relay" for the SMTP Connections, this indicates that the relay has already
been disabled for the anonymous users.
For your reference, you can follow the steps below to verify if the
Exchange Server is an open SMTP relay:
*Note: All Exchange clients (Microsoft Outlook or other clients) must log
off the Exchange server before you follow the steps.
Additionally, you must follow these steps from a remote client that is not
located on the SBS local network to the public IP address of the SBS
computer.
From the remote client, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, type telnet, and then click OK.
2. At the Telnet command prompt, type set local_echo, and then press ENTER.
3. At the Telnet command prompt, type open sbs-IP-address 25, and then
press ENTER (where sbs-IP-address is the external public IP address of the
Small Business Server computer).
The output is similar to the following:
220 server.smallbusiness.local Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version:
5.0.2195.4905 ready at "date" -0500
*Note: The "Version" reference may vary, depending on the version of Small
Business Server.
4. Type ehlo anydomain.com, and then press ENTER (where anydomain is not
the Small Business Server computer's e-mail domain. Make sure that the last
line is:
250 OK
5. Type mail from:youremail@xxxxxxxxxxxxx, and then press ENTER (where
youremail@anydomain is an SMTP address that is not hosted on the Small
Business Server computer). Make sure that the result is:
250 2.1.0 youremail@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx OK
6. Type rcpt to:user@xxxxxxxx, and then press ENTER (where user@spam is not
your e-mail domain). Make sure that the result is one of the following two
responses:
550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for user@xxxxxxxx
-or-
250 2.1.5 user@xxxxxxxx
7. If the result is "550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for user@xxxxxxxx," the
Exchange server is not an open SMTP relay.
8. If the result is "250 2.1.5 user@xxxxxxxx," the Exchange server is an
open SMTP relay.
I would like to suggest that you look into the following article to get
detail steps to configure exchange server to Block Open SMTP Relaying and
clean up the SMTP queues.

If the relay is closed, we can safely ignore this error by turning off
diagnostics logging for exchange. To do so:
Open ESM, expand servers, right click on the server's name, and select
properties. In the diagnostics logging tab, select MSExchangeTransport,
SMTP Protocol, then set the logging level to none.
Also, let us check the server configuration as follows:
1. Please make sure all of the NICs in the SBS server are pointing to only
the internal SBS NIC for DNS. The ISP¡¯s DNS server should be configured as
forwarders. More information:
