Hello Pete,
Thanks for using this Newsgroups.
According to your description, I understand that one of your POP3 Connector
does not delivery email and you find 1072 event log. If I have
misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Based on my research, to make sure the mails from global mailbox is
delivered to the exchange mailbox correctly, please make sure the following
rule is met.
1. The Primary SMTP address of the exchange mailbox matches the Global POP3
mailbox recipient policy.
2. The intended recipient mail address is either in the To List or CC list
3. Otherwise, there is specific POP3 routing rule defined for the specific
mailbox.
4. Ensure the default domain name on POP3 connector and added Routing rules
As the event log said, the POP3 connector cannot deliver the mails with
recipient in Distribution List or BCC (Blind Carbon copy) when processing a
Global POP3 mailbox. I would like to introduce the following information to
you.
A global mailbox is one in which e-mail for multiple recipients is stored
in a single foreign POP3 mailbox. When the mailbox is
accessed, the e-mail downloaded may be addressed to multiple different
recipients (e.g., amy@xxxxxxxxxxx, bob@xxxxxxxxxxx,
etc.). The connector downloads the mail from the mailbox, and then blindly
re-sends the mail to the Exchange Server without
modifying any of the headers. The mail will then be routed according to the
Exchange Proxy Addressing. If there is no user
recipient or proxy address defined, the Exchange Server will send a
Non-Delivery Report (NDR) to the original sender.
Note: When using Global mailboxes, users will need to have a defined e-mail
address that matches the primary address in the
primary default policy, otherwise they will not receive e-mail. In most
cases, the users will already have this unless multiple
recipient policies have been defined.
In a global mailbox, it is not possible to deliver e-mail sent to the user
by blind carbon copy (Bcc). This is because once the e-mail
has been delivered to the POP3 mailbox at the ISP, all of the delivery
information for the Bcc recipients is stripped from the
headers. The connector therefore has no delivery information to determine
who the intended recipient is. However, the Routing
Rules feature of the Connector can provide limited supported for Bcc mail
because for mailing lists, additional header translation
actions are performed.
If the issue persists, please kindly help me collect some information for
further investigation:
1. Is every mail delivered by this POP3 connector failed to reach to the
user mailbox and went to administrator?
2. If not, are these mails sent to the specific users?
3. Try to send internal email via user@xxxxxxxxx and user@xxxxxxxxx, Are
they all work?
4. Please enable the POP3 mailbox logging at Server Management - > Pop3
connector Manager -> Troubleshooting Tab -> Modify the Logging level to
Max. and then, reproduce the issue.
5. Send the MPS report to me.
a. Visit
http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/b/1/bb139fcb-4aac-4fe5-a579-30b0bd9
15706/MPSRPT_Exchange.EXE to download the file.
b. Run the MPSRPT_Exchange.EXE on the server box.
c. Wait for 10~15 minutes.
d. Open Windows explorer, navigate to %SYSTEMROOT%\MPSReports\Exchange\cab\
e. Send the .cab file directly to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hope these steps will give you some help.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)

| Hi,
|
| My client has SBS2003 R2 (Exchange 2003 sp2)
|
| Using pop3connetor
|
| Using global account to collect email from a spam filter
|
| Other side of the spam filter the isp collect two domain names -
xyz.co.uk &
| abc.co.uk and place them in one global account
|
| The system is configured with xyz.co.uk as primary account and abc.co.uk
has
| been entered in both global settings internet messaging and recipient
policy
| settings.
|
| Users have both email accounts in the AD
|
| External mail only gets to the primary account xyz.co.uk and any mail for
| abc.co.uk ends up in the undeliverable mail users inbox.
|
| Internal email works fine - so smtp seems to be working.
|
| Nothing in the \incoming mail or \failed mail or the \pickup directories.
|
| pop3connector is collecting the email.
|
| Enabled all SMTP and pop3connector logging to max - only message posted is
