Hello William,
Thank you for posting here.
According to your description, I understand that the SBS with Software
Mirror will hung when startup.
Based on my research, this is a complex problem, and there is not any error
message. I suggest you call CSS for further assistance.
If there is anything else I can do for you, feel free to let me know.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)

| Hello,
|
| I'm fighting an issue where a SBS 2003 SP1 system will hang at startup
| occasionally when it's rebooted. Typically after OS updates have been
| applied and the system needs to be restarted.
|
| The system has two SCSI drives configured as dynamic disks and mirrored
with
| Disk Manager.
|
| I have applied all BIOS/Firmware/Driver/OS updates and am still having
the
| problem, although it's not every time the system is rebooted. There are
no
| events logged indicating any problem with the drives, but when the system
| launches, it hangs and never reaches a login prompt.
|
| I have to open the computer case, disconnect on of the mirrored drives,
set
| the SCSI jumper to make it device zero, then launch Windows, break the
| mirror, reattach the drive, then remirror the drive.
|
| Is there a manual shutdown process/script I should follow to ensure the
| mirrored drives are in a quiet and synchronized state before the OS shuts
| down?
|
| Thanks.
