Exchange not displaying SMTP banner upon connection

Greetings,

I seem to be having a problem with our exchange server on an SBS2003
box. We can connect to port 25, however, it doesn't display the banner
until you press return, or issue a command (EHLO for example).

This is causing our spam filtering appliance to time out when
connecting to it, since it is expecting a banner.

I have restarted the serve, restarted the SMTP service, and tried
various other things. The firewall says it is sending the connections
through ok, which matches the behavior I have seen from it.

This issue seems to have just started today, and it needs to get
resolved as soon as possible, as all incoming email is being queued up
on our spam filtering device, and is not being sent through.

Outgoing email works fine, as does internal email.

Anyone have any ideas? What can I do to get this thing to work?

Regards,
Nik Dahl
