Re: Exchange Issues

Hey, you're busy asking questions tonight ;-).

A lot of them are answered in the SBS help file system - it's a fabulous and under utilized resource. A lot more can be answered with a google search of this newsgroup - you can use this link:

http://groups.google.ca/group/microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs?hl=en

There's a bunch more reading here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/sbs/techinfo/productdoc/default.mspx

After that, if you're stuck on finding an answer to something, this newsgroup is your resource.

Generally, a mailbox is not completely removed (by default) for 30 days. So you can simply re-attach it to a user. If you purged it, you have options including:

a) previous versions, if enabled on the drive (some steps are involved to successfuly recover an exchange store, though)
b) from backup, using the exchange recovery store

When you create a new user, it may take a few minutes for the mailbox to show up. That's normal. You can try logging onto OWA using that user's credentials to ensure it's there. If it isn't being created, then there might be 8331 errors in your event log. If that's the case, then your installation media is very old and your system hasn't been updated or service packed. (that issue was resolved in exhange SP1, I believe. We're now on SP2).

Cheers :-)
