Hi Matthew,
Thanks for posting back. I appreciate your time.
If your OS version is SBS 2003 SP1, when you try to reinstall the sbs
Backup component with the SBS integrated setup wizard, you will find the
Entry "Remove" for 'Administration' rather than "Reinstall". You can safely
follow the steps outlined in my previous posts to trouble shoot the issue
and let me know the result.
If the issue persists, please help me collect the following information:
1. C:\Windows\svcpack.log.
2. C:\Windows\KB885918.log
3. All files under the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Integration\Windows Small Business Server 2003\Logs
4. Please run command "msinfo32" (no quotation marks) on the SBS server box
to launch System Information console. And click File and then Save. Save
the system information to a .nfo file to send to me. My working mailbox:
v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Please mail me the information at v-yanniw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
I appreciate your time.
Have a nice day!
Sincerely,
Jenny Wu

Jenny-
Thank you for your response to my thread. I have done the things
in your response with mixed results.
I) I checked the backup site for virtual directory's location in IIS
server: it is @ c:\inetpub\backup
II) I checked the Application Settings and changed Application Name to
Monitoring from Backup; Execute Permissions and Application Pool were as
you indicated. The DefaultAppPool was using "Predefined:Network Service"
as you also indicated.
After doing all this, I restarted the IIS services and tried to configure
backup again with the same result. I was, however, able to successfully
backup using the NTBackup command. The result was "Backup Complete". I
then wondered if the problem was a matter of tape size as I noted that
drive, files we are backing up were larger than the tape. (A problem we havejust
incurred as we are starting to scan all our old documents.) So, I triedto
schedule the backup, using configure backup, to save it to the hard
but I received the same error message. I took a screen shot of this andinstalled
have attached it. I have also attached the .nfo file. I was unable to
download and run Filemon and Regmon. The addresses you provided did not
work for some reason.
Again, thank you for your reply and your help in this matter. I look
forward to continuing to working toward a successful solution.
Matthew

Matthew, I have found this program an invaluable tool. It takes NTbackup
whole new level. What is great about it is that it is NTBackup, just 100
times better!
