Re: Source ESENT, Event 215

Did this work?

FYI, I'm seeing the same issue. The KB did not fix this for me. The
sqlvdi.dll was also not in the default location (I found it under C:\Program
Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn). The KB also indicates that I
should "Stop the SQL server". I don't believe the SQL server is actually
installed in the default install, but the desktop components are. I'd be
curious if you also get this:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Windows SharePoint Services 2.0
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Description:
#50070: Unable to connect to the database STS_Config on
SERVER-03\SharePoint. Check the database connection information and make
sure that the database server is running.

This appears to be related to not having SQL installed too. So there seems
to be a few event log errors that pop up in the default install if you
haven't installed SQL.

Like you my backups seem fine otherwise.

Nick.

I registered sqlvdi.dll as specified by the resolution. The error normally
occurs overnight when the scheduled backup runs. I'll post the result
tomorrow.

Thanks,

I get an application event log critical error as noted above with the
description:

certsrv.exe (1092) The backup has been stopped because it was halted by
the
client or the connection with the client failed.

The backup is a nightly scheduled event that appears to have completed
successfully.

Does anyone have an idea what's causing this error? If I run the scheduled
event manually, it completes without logging the 215 error.

Bruce
