Re: server is using 100% cpu

What do you thing about this? There is one client powered up with a user is
logged on in the network. That one computer is generating a constant stream
of network traffic of 200 kb/s that seems a bit much especially as no one is
working on it. As soon as I log off the user the traffic stops. Do you know
of any profile setting or anything else that creates such traffic on a win XP
pro SP2 client?

I think you have an underpowered CPU as well as too little RAM. Also why do
you have Kerio Winroute Firewall software installed on your SBS? It would be
better to use the integrated ISA 2004 you would get with SBS 2003 PE or a
good quality hardware firewall.

I forgot to tell this in the mail it is system that is eating CPU.

Hi Marnix:

When you open the task manager it will show you on the processes tab
which services are using what percentage of the CPU, just click the CPU
header to the right of the "image name" . You may have to click twice,
as one click makes you larger, the other makes you small (sorry,
jefferson airplane moment there) :-)

Also, 512 RAM is about 25% of what you might find beneficial in the SBS
2003 server environment.

I have a Proliant ML 350 PIII 1.13 GHz and 512 MB of RAM. I run a
standard
SBS 2003 on it. The only other software that is running on that system
is
Kerio Winroute Firewall. The network has 10 clients.

The system was working perfectly until about three months ago. I, for
as far
as I can remember, havened changed anything on that system. It is
running at
100% CPU. I think it has something to do with continuous communication
with
the clients. This communication uses 10% of one of the network cards.
It
seems to have all two do with Microsoft-DS. This all happens so far
under
water that I have no clue how two fix this
