Re: Invalid installation id

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

that sucks! But im 100% I have not made any mistypes. The 4 different support
people at Microsoft all made my re-type it in.

I remember reinstalling and OEM XP workstation and getting really "miffed"
cause it woudn't take the key I kept typing it. Eyes were tired and the hour
late, it was a G and not the 6 I kept entering.

Probably the most hours I ever spent Installing XP. (Plus I wrote the whole
rebuild billable time off and didn't charge the client a dime.)

How do I do this if I can't login to the server?
I installed the Windows on the server when we bought it from the store, So
im pretty much 100% its the same product key.

But i'm curious, how would that help anyway?

I would also run Belarc Advisor on the server
It will give you the product key that was used to install SBS on the
server.
Does it match whats on teh COA?

Hello:

May be asking the obvious, but what happens when you contact the OEM
who
provided the server and the OEM copy of Windows?

We bought SBS2003 OEM with a server computer we bought back in march
2006,
at
the time it activated fine and has been running activated fine all
year.

But a couple weeks ago after restarting the server, the activation
wizard
came up and will not validate over the internet. I phoned activation
technical support and after being transfered around 4 times, nothing
was
resolved. I was finaly transfered to SBS support where they told me I
have
to
pay $300 to get further support.

Why should I pay $300 because there windows activation sucks?
I can buy a new copy of SBS2003 R2 for not much more than that.

Anayway, they had me re-type in the product key, as well as restart
the
server.
The product key says its "incorrect", but it is the key I have on the
shinny
"Certificate of Authenticity", and worked fine up until weeks ago.

Is there anything I can do or try short of paying this overpriced
$300?
Would reinstalling the server do anything? I really dont want to do
that,
we
have numerous 3rd party programs I would have to resetup.
