Hello Customer,
Thank you for posting here.
According to your description, I understand that the clients cannot get IP
address from DHCP on SBS server. If I have misunderstood the problem,
please don't hesitate to let me know.
Based on my research, I suggest we try the following steps to see if we can
resolve this issue:
1. I recommend you to use the CEICW wizard to configure the SBS server
network:
825763 How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server
2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=825763
2. Please try to disable windows firewall service on your SBS server, this
service will restart after you restore system.
a. Run service.msc on SBS server
b. Find Windows Firewall/Internet connection sharing (ICS) service,
double-click it
c. Select Disabled in Startup type box and click Stop button
d. Click OK to finish, then test this issue
3. Please connect your route vendor, and make sure the route will allows
UDP 67 and 68 go through different route ports
4. Please ensure the DHCP function on the router is disabled or it will
interfere with the SBS's native DHCP server.
If the issue persists, please kindly help me collect some information for
further investigation:
1. Gather the ipconfig /all on client and send the result to me.
2. Do you install ISA on your SBS server? Which version the ISA is?
3. Save application event log and system event log as evt files on client
machines and send to my mailbox: v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
4. Does the problem occur on all internal clients?
5. Try to assign static IP address on client, does the client work?
6. Gather DHCP log.
The DHCP audit logs are located by default at %windows%\System32\Dhcp.
Please mail me all logs under the DHCP folder.
Hope these steps will give you some help.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)
