RE: two subnets on my sbs server

Hi Terence

In the mean time I solved the problem myself.
The client couldn’t resolve \\myserver\ it could only resolve
\\myserver.mydomain.office\
The client computer is attached to a router that also provides DHCP
functionality.
But the DHCP functionality in the router is limited, and can’t provide WINS
Server settings, so when I updated the lmhost file on the
client with ” 192.168.100.10 myserver”, it all worked out.
Connectcomputer obviously doesn’t support addressing with FQDN only server
name is allowed.
The next problem is now how I supply a wins server to the remote clients,
Can you set the Wins server static and let the rest of the configuration be
done via DHCP?

Regards Jens

Hello Jens,

Thank you for you mail and kind update.

Based on further my research, I suggest we try the following steps to see
if we can resolve this issue:

1. Please open IIS Manager and find ConnectCumputer

2. Right-click it, select properties

3. Select Directory Security tab, click Edit button

4. Make sure that the only "Intergrated Widnows authentication" is checked.

5. Click OK twice to finish.

Before we go any further, please let me know the following information so
that we can understand your situation more clearly.

1. What the language version of your SBS server is?

2. Does this issue only happen on this client? How about other clients?
What the language version of other client?

3. Gather ipconfig /all on both SBS server and problematic client and send
to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

4. Can you access this website via http://localhost/connectcumputer on SBS
server?

Hope these steps will give you some help.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Best regards,

Terence Liu(MSFT)

| Hi terence
|
| The first thing i did was to alter the IP restrictions of the intire
default
| website, including connectcomputer, so that the other range was allowed.
| On the remote site i cant access http://myserver/ but i can access
| http://myserver.mydomain.office.
| the router on the remote location is set as DHCP with the sbs server as
the
| first DNS entry. Second and third DNS are external DNS servers.
| The VPN Tunnel the two locations are tied together with is "nailed up" so
| that it tries to reconnect if itbreaks down.
