I totally understand the implications. But we are having problems
with doc redirect. Access .mdb files are not supposed to be backed
up but sometimes they slip through and this creates sync errors.
Example: A user with a laptop created 3 .mdb files while connected
to the domain and saved them in the my docs folder. Somehow these
files were uploaded to the user folder on the server. For some
reason now when he is logged into the domain at work he can access
all three .mdb files but when he is working off the domain only two
appear locally. If you could explain what is going on here I would
love to address this issue and keep sharing on. he wants to
organize all his valuable files in the my docs (rather than having
some in the my docs and others stored on the local drive) and I can
understand that, so he wanted to turn off the feature and rely on
his own back up methods.
In all the years that Off-Line files has been an option I've never
seen it work reliably. We have 2500+ users with various clients and
have disabled off-line files on every computer and laptop.
Amen, brudda.
Note to the OP: Folder Redirection != offline files.
