Dave and SuperGumby,
Thanks for the replies. I didn't realize I hadn't subscribed to get
replies emailed to me, or I would have responded earlier. I was able
to get in using RDP, and hadn't come across a convenient time to reboot
the server. However, it restarted in the middle of the night, last
night (for unknown reasons) and my screen is now responsive again.
Nothing illuminating in the error logs.
BTW, it's a PS2 keyboard plugged into a KVM switch.

On the server's keyboard, can you toggle numlock off and on? This could be
something as simple as a bad keyboard connection at the server. If it's a
USB keyboard, you could try unplugging and replugging. I would not hot plug
a PS2 keyboard unless you're absolutely sure the motherboard is OK with
that.
Can you log into the server remotely from your desktop with RDP? Or,
connect to Computer Management from your desktop? The first thing I would
do is to check the event logs for any errors. Check services to make sure
all are running that should be. These are just precautionary steps in case
something unexpected is going on. If there's nothing obvious or noteworthy,
I'd just reboot the server. Or, if a PS2 keyboard is not responding, shut
it down, verify a good connection with the keyboard connector, and restart.
If you can't do it otherwise, log into a workstation with a domain admin
account and do Start -> Run -> shutdown -i. That'll give you a GUI
interface where you can shut down or restart the server.

The default Windows Server 2003 screensaver on my SBS2003 server is
frozen. The arrow displays and can be moved with the mouse, but
clicking the mouse, or doing Ctrl-Alt-Del from the keyboard has no
effect.
The server appears to be working correctly, but I can't get into it to
do anything.
If it's relevant, here's what prompted me to try to work on the server.
I have a desktop that I believe, at one point, might have had Offline
Files turned on. In any case, despite the fact that I now have a group
policy disabling Offline Files, every time this desktop shuts down, it
synchronizes folders with the user folder on the server. (Note that
this does not happen on restart.) Not having any idea why this is
happening, my best thought was to temporarily remove the group policy,
so the Offline Files tab would be visible again, and turn it off if
necessary, then turn the group policy back on.
It was when I went to the server to attempt this maneuver, that I
realized I couldn't get in to it.
The only other recent event of any note is that we had a thunderstorm
yesterday afternoon, and I did hear the UPS click on very briefly once.
Thanks for any help you can give.
