Thank you for your support.
you don't beleive that I can erase from "Add and Erase Programs" from
Control Panel, when you open the wizard for Small Business Server 2003l, only
the items that say "Programs Tools" on the wizard and Exchange in order to
save time and work?. This customer has other applications from other
providers which are administratives and this system was updated from SBS2003
to SBS2003 SP1 which is a great job.
I am testing in lab this posibility and I see that the sites below default
website are erased but you keep your networking operating. I do not know what
happen with VPN's because the certificate site was erased too. Remote,
Monitoring, Backup, etc sites were erased.
What do you think about this option?. I will lost users accounts but I can
recreate them manualy because they are 20. I have daily store database
backup. Everything on different disk drivers. The only things I have on C:\
are system configuration, Microsoft aplications, SBS2003 OS because user
data, propietary Application, ecxhange logs and storedatabase are out of c:\
If I leave the operating system without modification and I try to uninstall
an reinstall server tools and aplciations only, I think I will recuperate
everything below the default website without damage operating system and
propietary server programs.
Of course that I will have to reinstall certificates, VPN's and to make
recovery of store or passing to PST files as you say but is less traumatic
for the customer and for my time, stress and pocket.
What do you think about this posibility? What do you see bad as an option?
I do not have last month system backup, I HAVE only for this month.
After this, I will implementate of course system registers trimestral
additional backup as well on all my customers. I am sure.
Now I have everything on different disk drivers. All the information of the
company and User's My Documents are out of c:\, inclusive, the store database
and log files of ecxhange are out c:\
What do you think?

It sounds like restoring it to the day before the changes is the best way to.
go. You can avoid loosing any data by saving data that was created between
the last working backup and today to an offsite drive or computer. You also
would need to take care of the exchange server mail that users received
after the backup. There are 2 ways of doing this. You can either run a
backup of the Information Store BEFORE you start your restore and play it
back after you finished the restore (this should not impact on your current
issue) or, if you have only a few users, you could pull those emails into
PST folders before you start the restore. I would probably go with option 1.

I make daily backups. Three days had happened, when I could see the
disaster
that I caused.
I only change permissions on the default website and selected read, write
and view directories in order to change information with frontpage
remotely
into Sharepoint.
But it affected the sites below which must be without certain settings. It
is very difficult to find the right conbination of settings for
everything. I
try to simulate in LAb here and to copy there.
I resolved gettin into remote website, then I resolved getting reports
with
monitoring features, then I resolved the site to generate backups, then I
worked on OWA until I could get into it but now I can send or forward any
mail by OWA, it says, it is prohibited. I have read and I found that it is
a
problem related with certificates.
There is a site for certificates below the default website and this was
operating very well last month. I have made changes on it but I can not
send
messages with OWA.
Yesterday, I had to connect a new computer to the server and when I tried
to
use connectcomputer wizard, I received an error message. That is an other
site below the default web site. Of course I use the traditional way to
include a computer to a domain lan.
I feel terrible because to make the server operation to the last month
state
was a lot of work. I do not want to do all again. I also have mobile users
with VPN conections....

Did you document your changes? Can you reverse? If not, I would restore
from
the backup that you made just before you changed things.

I am very sorry but I have a big problem with the default website on one
SBS2003 I administer.
I am sure I changed some settings on permissions and I changed the
anonymous
user without knowing the tremendous failure it was goin to produce on
the
erest o services.
I wanted only to get access remotely to my Sharepoint site in order to
make
changes with FrontPage but by confusion I made changes on the default
website.
Now I have problem with the OWA, with the connectcomputer feature, with
the
monitoring, with the remote site access, and I think with the exchange
as
well.
I want to know If I can to reinstall all the default website in order
to
recuperate the previus settings for all the sub web sites without
reinstalling all the SBS2003 again because it is a lot of work.
With a modification on the default website, I affected all the sub
websites
below it in one or other way.
This system was install in SBS2003 and Updated to SBS2003 SP1 which is
a
big
job.
Since this change I receive the ID error 1006 WbLogSVC which does not
have
any way to resolve on the Microsft knowledge basedata.
