Re: company web, monitoring is not loading on SBS2003 R2

Hi,

i have got a simular problem with a customer - dell server using the onboard
cards - if you look a few posts down you will see my post companyweb stops
working after ISA2004 installed.

Again like SQ the server came pre-installed - assuming dell used their
installation script - however i don't want to do a reinstall - as this is a
live server.

Have you managed to find out anything else?

i have built a test system and i got the same isuues but once i changed the
network card it started working - re enabled the internal broadcom and now
it's working!! i may have to visit my customer and try!!

if you have found anything that would be of a great help.

I have used their setup assistant (similar to the Dell assistant) without an
issue but I prefer to do it without it. Sometimes you run into a mix-up with
the dual NIC setup. You can avoid that by stopping the installation after
the OS setup, verifying the names on the 2 NICs and the proper IP addresses.
Then continue with the rest of the SBS setup. The CDs versus DVD - I prefer
the CDs but that's just me.

I am wondering if these problems were caused by the HP setup assistant?
I used their software to start the boot process into the installation. I
also had a problem during the installation with one of the setup CD's,
Disk2
locked the system. I might pick up an inexpensive DVD drive so that I can
install from the DVD media instead via multiple CD's.

Thanks,

Steven

SQ,

Given that this box is not in production yet, I think a clean new install
would be a good exercise. You can also uninstall and reinstall
SharePoint.
But in your case I would start from scratch.

Hi Claus,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
The system is not showing any critical services that are stopped.
The web service is also running, so I am wondering if I just need to
reinstall the OS?

Behavior for Performance Logs is normal. It only starts when needed.
Alerts?? do you mean Alerter? That should be disabled.

If you want me to help you, you need to give me the info I ask for.
You
didn't tell me anything about your event logs. any errors? (ErrorIds,
source, description).

You didn't answer my other questions. What errors did you get?
Check
the
event logs. Under the services, do you see any services that are
set
to
automatic and are not running?

I changed the WINS Server Info, and ran CEICW but it hasn't
resolved
the
issue.

Your WINS server on the LAN NIC should be 192.168.2.2. Rerun the

Do
you get any errors? Are any services that should start
Automatically
not
running? Do you see any errors in the event logs?

I have just installed SBS 2003 R2 on a new HP ML350 G4 with 2
Nics,
most
of
the installation has been fine except companyweb will not run
on
the
server
or on the test workstation. I have also noticed that
monitoring
is
also
not
working in server management. I am almost positive that it is
an
IP
configuration issue.

The company has a Netopia IDSL Router with 5 static IP
addresses.
One
static ip routes directly to the Network Nic. The server is
able
to
go
online.

Here is the IPCONFIG info from the server
