Re: Contacts

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the advice - looks fairly straightforward, I'll give this a go
later today.

You can't copy/paste into the GAL (hence kj's comment). What you can do is
to create a public contacts folder, set the appropriate permissions, and
copy/past into that. In the public folder's properties, click the address
book tab and check the box to show the folder as an address book (needs to
be done in each Outlook profile). Then go to Outlook Tools -> Address
Book -> Tools -> Options and select to show the public folder as the first
address book.

Alternatively, you can create Active Directory Contacts that will show in
the GAL. I don't recommend this for a variety of reasons, primarily that it
requires Administrator involvement any time a contact is added or modified.

Hi Les,

Thanks for the quick reply. I though of that one but I can't seem to
locate
the global address list. If I select 'Mail', 'New' and then click 'To' I
get
the option of Global Address list or 'Outlook Address Book'/Contacts. If I
click on 'Contacts' in the Navigation pane I cannot see the Global Address
List to copy the contacts into. Any ideas ?

regards Colin.

Select all, copy, paste should work.

into
the global address list (or any other list for that matter) ? Many
thanks
in

Regards Colin.
