Postini can perform a directory sync to your AD for the accounts but that is using LDAP not POP3. The text below is from their support site:
"To use Directory Sync, you’ll need to set up DSML with SSL on an internet facing machine and possibly perform some configuration on your LDAP directory server and Email Protection Service."
If you are not syncing via LDAP, then their is two different security databases (AD and Postini's). Yes the email addresses are the same, and the users may have manually synced their passwords. If you create a new user in AD does it auto magically create the user in Postini?

We have an issue with postini. SBS03 std all updates including exchange.
Postini uses exchange to authenticate users. We have 2 users that cannot.
We have removed their accounts and re-created them, still they do not work.
We were told to make sure that the exchange pop service is running. Also we
removed and recreated the accounts on postini. If we telnet to the exchange
server on port 110 we can test the user accounts. the two accounts come up
with password error. User login's are the same as their e-mail. Stuck on this
one.
Any help would be great.
Thanks
