Thank you Chance.
I have rolled back the ASP version used on these sites to the 1.1 as you
advised. The sites are now accesable to the net, BUT the site layouts seem to
be corrupt. They are not what use to be there. The images are just
placeholders and will not refresh. The font look too large, etc. Is there a
way to restore the look of the sites to the previous layout? I have not
followed your instructions yet for reinstallation of sharepoint. I was hoping
to avoid that. But I guess I will do so on the weekend. Will doing this
restore our sharepoint sites templates? Will we loose all setup and content
because it will reset to factory defaults only? Please advise.

Hi,.
Thank you for posting here.
From your post, I understand you got following error code after you upgrade
to SBS SP1.
"The Windows SharePoint Services virtual server has not been configured for
use with ASP.NET 2.0.xxxxx.0". If I'm off base, please feel free to let me
know.
First of all, please chose ASP 1.1.4322 Version in Internet Information
Services console.
To do so:
1. Run "inetmgr" in command prompt to launch IIS console
2. Locate Web Sites---CompanyWeb, right click and point to properties.
3. Go to ASP.NET tab, select ASP 1.1.4322 version, and click OK.
4. Perform the same action on the other container under Web Sites.
5. After that restart IISADMIN service.
Based on my research, SBS 2003 already supports .NET Framework 2.0. You can
install this on your SBS 2003 Server. However, if you configure Companyweb
to use .NET Framework 2.0, you must follow KB 894903 to upgrade WSS
Companyweb. Please make sure that you're going to type a correct command:
stsadm.exe -o upgrade -forceupgrade -url http://companyweb
[Note] Please manually key in the charactors. On my test machine, if I
simply copy and paste the command from the KB to the CMD prompt, it will
also come back with a "Command line error" since the "-" has been replaced
with "-".
If the problem persists, please let me know whether the SP1 installation
completed successful.
This issue always happen with a failed WSS update. If the installation
failed, I recommend you to follow the steps below to reinstall WSS
Companyweb. (Please make a full backup first.)
1. Please strictly follow KB 829114 for reinstallation of SharePoint
companyweb (with SBS 2003 SP0 CD3 inserted).
2. If the system prompts you for SP1 installation CD3, follow these steps:
a) Open Registry Editor and set 'isrunfromweb' to '2', under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer.
b) Download SBS 2003 SP1 (885918) to C:\.
c) Open CMD window and type "C:\SBS2003-KB885918-SP1-X86-ENU.EXE /x" (with
no quotation marks) and press Enter.
d) Specifying a path for the extracted files (such as C:\SBSSP1)
e) Point the system to the folder created in the previous steps
(C:\SBSSP1\CD3).
3. After finish the installation, install KB 832880.
4. Install WSS 2.0 SP1.
5. Install SBS 2003 SP1 (885918) again.
6. Reboot the server and check whether the problem persists.
If there's any update, please don't hesitate to let me know. Have a nice
day!

Best Regards,

| Hi All. I am by no means a CNE here, just know enough to be dangerous. I
am
| my own IT guy running a SBS2003 Server. I have an issue I need help with.
At
| the urging of a sharepoint client that needed to upload a 30 meg file, I
| upgraded our server with SP1. I followed the installation instructions of
all
| six steps. When attempting to login to sharepoint site we hit the error
with
| the ASP.NET 2.0 message. OK no problem. I find the article ID #894903 and
| attempt to perform the command line forced upgrade. I get back two error
| messages. in the Dos CMD line. it says cannot upgrade
studio.ourdomain.com or
| companyweb
| Can anyone advise on my next steps? I need to get the sharepoints back
up.
| and would like company web active also.
| I do not know if it related but I have also upgraded all clients here to
| Explorer7
