Not surprising that it worked! Jeff has documented everything so thoroughly
that failures should be rare.

If anyone cares anymore, I very successully migrated from SBS2000 to
WSBS2003
with swing migration. Totally rock solid on the new server!
Thanks guys,
Bryan

Kevin,
"if you're new to SBS, install 3 times"
You did mention it first, and also the Swing It! tools are exactly what I
am
looking for. Thanks for your recommendation. The MS whitepaper would
force
me to change the server name and change every desktop - Swing It suggests
I
can keep the AD intact and have minimal disruption to the end user.

Thanks Owen,
Good to know that I won't be the only site to do a few clean
installs!
Very
sound advice about expecting to do it 3 times too. I'm looking
forward to
booting off CD 1 and clearing the disk.

Hi, Bryan - welcome to the SBS newsgroup.
As others have noted, those of us who have been using SBS a while
strongly recommend those new to it plan to initially install it FROM
SCRATCH (boot from CD, reformat hard disks, etc.) three times:
FIRST, to see how the integrated install works. It is VERY
different
(easier) v. setting up a vanilla Win Svr 2003 network. After that,
the
server should be rebuilt almost immediately.
SECOND, to begin answering some of the questions asked with
responses
appropriate to your particular situation and provide the other
necessary
information. You can try some testing with the server at this
point.
THIRD, to correct the - ahem - misinformed answers supplied in the
second install (based on the testing and additional information
found in
the meantime), and really setup a solid configuration.
Use this approach, with some help from all the great Microsoft and
3rd-
party documentation available and those of us here, and you will be
well
on your way to a great SBS installation.

Hi all,
I'm setting up WSBS 2003 for the first time and learning from a
book
about
Windows Server 2003. I am prepared to find some things not
identical
or
limited between the book and WSBS 2003. The book mentions the
Configure Your
Server Wizard many times, but I don't have that in the
Administrative
Tools
menu.
Is this normal for WSBS 2003, or is there something missing in my
install?
If so, can I get it back without a clean re installatoin?
Thanks,
Bryan
