Naw, I prefer to make different mistakes each time!

Kidding, of course.

Reinstall 10 times and make the same mistakes 10 times. Eriq Neale's
book and Charlie Russell's book are two that go over a lot of good
stuff.

Ok, that is a good point :-) I will do a reinstall later on before we're
really gonna use it..

I'm gonna disable the routers DHCP and use the SBS DHCP to whether that
fixes the 'unable to logon to Windows 2003 domain' problem.

Is there maybe a good book or site with documentation you can suggest? The
software does not seem to come with a manual. The newsgroups are a good
source of information, but a structured information source like a book
would
be very handy too I guess.

So that you learn it better before building a production server. Heck,
you
can do it five times and you'll still miss things. For example, DHCP on
the
router vs. DHCP from the server. They are not the same, since you can do
more with SBS' DHCP than most routers are capable of doing.

Hi Kevin,

I indeed have a router with DHCP enabled, but during setup disabeld
the
DHCP
of the SBS-server. I can offcourse also disable the DHCP of the router
and
use the DHCP of SBS.

I'm using SBS for the first time yes. Why would you suggest
reinstalling
SBS
at least two more times?

My first guess is that you have a router that has DHCP service
enabled.
And
then you then bring on the SBS server, which also runs DHCP server.
If
so,
disable the DHCP service on the router, and reboot your server.

On another note .. is this is your first time using SBS? if so, I
would
suggest reinstalling SBS at leadt two more times on your new server.

Hi,

Yesterday we recieved our new server with Windows 2003 SBS Standard
R2
pre-installed. Today I started configuring the server, but it
doesn't
seem
to
work out..
I used the wizards in the ToDo to create user accounts and add
computer
accounts. I browsed with one of the client pc's (running Windows XP
Prof)
to
the /ConnectComputer site on the server and used the wizard to
configure
the
client. After rebooting, I'm not able to login on the domain. The
message
I
get is:

"Windows cannot connect to the domain either because the domain
controller
is down or otherwise unavailable, or because your computer account
was
not
found. Please try again later.".

I really don't know what I could have done wrong, and hope that
someone
can
point me in the right direction..
