Gregg,
Valid question, but the results of any comparison of products have to be
looked at in the larger picture.
If I want to buy a safe vehicle for my wife, a study might show that the
Hummer is the safest vehicle out there. But, if it doesn't fit my budget, or
fit my garage, or doesn't meet my operational needs ... then I'm not going
to buy it.
Similarly with A/V.
The Independent Virus tests you referred to meadures only two things:
accuracy and scanning performance. But there are other things to be
considered. What about usability? What about a friendly interface? What
about flexibility in configuring it to meet various needs (different groups
of computer users)?
These are not trivial issues. If my wife cannot physically get into a
Hummer, she's not going to use it. Likewise, if the A/V solution you choose
does not allow you to use it as you wish, then why buy it?
As Les pointed out, the fact that you have not had a virus come through
using Trend is your storngest argument.

Hello!
I mostly use Trend CSM Security for SMB at my clients and have not had any
problems with a virus getting past it, nor do I have a problem with
systems not updating as I did with SAVCE. I have one half-client who
insists that NOD32 is the best in the world and sent me this link
http://nod32.softwaresecuritysolutions.com/ to a comparison.
If that comparison is accurate, Trend is not doing so well in catching
viruses. Of course, they do not say which virus got past Trend, nor what
package it was that they tested, so I take the results lightly.
Any input?
Gregg Hill
P.S. The "half-client" reference means they call me for big stuff, he
takes of little stuff. "Soon-to-be-fired" client would be a better
description.
