Re: Disaster Recovery - restored but 1 mailbox isn't working!

Good luck.
As to your OWA problem, I really don't know where that one would be coming
from, unless you have a rule setup. Did you check that?

Hi Claus,

Gonna give that a try as we'd basically done almost that much already
without any change... :-(

My outgoing mail from Outlook works totally fine... very confusing! :-)

Cheers,

David

David,

I would try to move all existing mail from the user into a PST folder,
delete the profile, recreate it and see if the new mail is coming in. If
that doesn't help, delete the mailbox, purge it, and create a new one.
After mail flows again, move the mail from the PST back in. I suspect
some hiccup on the restore with the association of that mailbox.

As to the problem with your own mailbox, what is the behavior when you
try to send email from Outlook?

Hi again...

Unfortunately, we have a similar - albeit harder to pin down - issue
with one other mailbox. And some generally strange behaviour since the
restore.

As I noted, restore went really smoothly once we'd removed the old ghost
cards in device manager. Server boots without error now and everything
that should start, does. Checked Exchange using ESEUTIL and ISINTEG and
both come back entirely clean.

We have one user now with the same issue as I had. 67 [at present] mails
sitting in the Exchange queue for local delivery that never arrive in
either OWA or Outlook 2003. I've tried moving ALL the mails showing in
the Inbox in Outlook to a temp folder to see if that would clear it.
Didn't. Tried deleting the mails since the day before the crash. Didn't.
I'm now removing ALL the mails to a PST file to see if that clears
things up and allows the new mails to start arriving in the Exchange
mailbox.

Obviously, this is the critical issue at present and any pointers as to
how to investigate it further and ultimately resolve it would be
appreciated.

We have a secondary issue with my own mailbox/OWA that is strange more
than problematic although its worrying none the less.

If I access OWA all my mails from my Exchange mailbox are there as they
should be. New mails are received fine. However, creating a new mail and
attemping to send this only causes the outgoing mail to be 'sent' to the
drafts folder where it sits until I send it from Outlook.

Again, given the Exchange tests come up clean I'm thinking this is
either something low-level and 'quirky' with regards possibly
IIS/Exchange/my user account or potentially something more serious?
Advice on this would also be appreciated.

Thanks again for your time and assistance,

David

Sorted. Recreated profile. Copied email from last 3 days off to temp
folder. Email started appearing in Mailbox instantly. Corrupted mail
within copied mail obviously. Public Folder ones were arriving - it was
just the favourites offline copy that wasn't updating...

Just the usual Move, Delete or Configure Exchange Features - same as
per the working ones...

Another update.

Bizarrely, I am getting incoming spam delivered to my Trend CSM spam
folder... I'm assuming this is because Trend is checking this before
Exchange itself gets its beedy eyes on it and queues it...?

HELP!

David

PS - it also appears that incoming mail to our mail-enabled Public
folders
isn't getting there...

Quick update.

ESEUTIL comes up clean on the priv1.edb
ISINTEG had 8 fixes in the Folders test then came up clean

Hi all,

Our internal SBS2K3 Premium box's psu went down last night - bah!
Also
'did
something bad' to something else [possibly plural] on the mb.
So...
swapped
mb, memory, processor and psu. Had backup on separate drive. Clean
install
of W2K3 - installed W2K3 SP1 - restored from backup. Usual fun
with NICs
etc
but once we'd got shot of the ghosted previous ones, booted up
without an
error. All services tickity boo. Everything seems fine apart
from... 1
mailbox [which would be mine!] which isn't
quite right.

Outlook 2003 on my XP SP2 laptop opens fine and says its connected
to the
Server fine. Outgoing mail appears to be sending fine [testing to
an
account
on our sister company and getting there no probs]. Replied from
sister
company account and it reaches our SBS box. But... it stays
sitting in the
Queue on the Server and doesn't reach my mailbox [checked with
both
Outlook
2003 and OWA].

Have also tried just sending a mail [using OWA] from our SBS Box
[Admin
account] to my user account - didn't get here. Its sitting in the
queue.
Its
almost like my mailbox is no longer recognised by the server as
actually
being there. There is nothing obvious in the Exchange System
Manager and
in
a kind of cruel [for me] way I'm glad its me rather than one of my
users.
That said, I need this resolved ASAP obviously. Any ideas where I
can
check?

Thanks,

David
