In article <uizm1Mq$GHA.2276@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>,
rkircher@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx says...
Ok I changed out the Dell USB Nic and went with a Netgear WG111v2 USB nic
and now it behaves just like the intel nic. In other words, I still get the
1054 error but an IP address is acquired just after the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen
displays.
At least that's some progress. Since you are getting 1054s with three
different wireless NICs, this indicates to me the 1054s are due to
something other than the NICs. But the errors still appear to be
wireless-specific since they do not occur with a wired connection.
I'm thinking that if I can get rid of the 1054 error this all my work
perfectly.
I agree. Unfortunately, I'm running low on ideas that will correct the
1054s. I have not received any other reports of this particular problem
from the hundreds of people who have downloaded the docs.
I presume that, per an earlier post, you reinstalled the certificates
via a wired connection.
The source I posted earlier:
http://eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=1054&eventno=1393
&source=Userenv&phase=1
has a _long_ list of things which can cause 1054s including several that
are wireless-specific. I suggest reviewing that list to see what might
be applicable to you.
If the 1054s still won't go away, another option is to call Microsoft
Customer Support Services (CSS) for assistance. It's a US$245 call but
the rep will work with you until the problem is fixed OR it's determined
to be unfixable. I know of one other person who was having a problem
with the configuration and called CSS. She found the cause of her
problem was an undocumented bug (no KB article) in ISA2004. CSS
provided a workaround and, since the bug was undocumented, refunded her
money. Your mileage may vary!
If you decide to call CSS, your focus will be on why you are getting
1054s via wireless but not wired. There is nothing "strange" or non-
standard about the configuration I document so CSS should not have any
problem with it. (The person mentioned above did not have any issues
with CSS challenging the configuration; they just revealed the ISA bug.)
If are able to eliminate the 1054s, please post back the solution. It
may be worth adding to the "Troubleshooting" section of my docs.
