Absolutely... even from the VPN.

Hi Les,

I sent up my IPCFG in a earlier post.

Now that I've joined the TS as a static IP server to the domain it doesn't
show up in the users RWW at all at least with the dynamic IP it showed up
there for a while. It does however still show up in the admin RWW and the
VPN users can access it as well. This is the darndest thing.... DNS and
DHCP
are working perfect, Ping names bring the right IP's. Where does the
dynamic
webpage pole for the TS? Maybe I can start looking there.

I'm reluctant to run the CEICW again as it belches spam into the users
mailboxes and creates way too many questions... ;o)

Get a grip ;-).

'Connect to my company's application server' appears for nonadmin
users.

Of course it does. But that's got nothing to do with what I said.

The RWW home page for Admins is totally different from the Users RWW home
page. And, logging onto RWW as a user, and clicking on 'connect to my
computer at work' will not display a properly configured TS in the list -
it
only shows workstations.

The only place a TS link will show up, is for a user, and on the home
page,
and that's assuming the TS is properly configured and accessible at that
moment.

There should be a link on the RWW home page for the Terminal Server.
It's
not found in the list of computers to connect to, *unless* you're
logging
onto RWW with administrative rights.

The link on the home page (Connect to my company's
application -sharing
server) is only present when the server is accessible.

I could be wrong, but I think this is what's (sometimes) missing?

This does not sound right. When you RWW you will see a list of
devices
that are on the domain, based on your user rights.
That is if an admin RWW they will see connect to servers and
workstations.
All items are devices on the domain, they do not reflect powered on
devices.
If a user logs on they see workstations.

Of course you can edit the registry and hide devices or options like
hide computer or remove helpdesk.

Some things we could look at:

a) ipconfig /all from the both servers
b) check for connectivity (ping, name resolution) from within the
lan.
c) run CEICW - and/or any third party firewall products installed?
d) is the TS accessible via RDP from a lan workstation?
e) review that regedit you did previously, is everything at default
there?

Hi Les,

Thanks for getting back so soon.... The thing is, I can reboot
either
of the
servers and the TS is still missing in action, and it's definately
not
a
power save issue as it's all disabled... ;o) It's the funkiest
thing... :o)

Regards,

It has to be "available" when the user logs onto RWW (the page is
built
dynamically). i.e. if the TS wasn't present and detected at the
time
the
user logged on, it wouldn't show up.

So, look for a connectivity issue (nics doing powersave), I'd
suggest
the
event logs might be the place to start.

I've finally gotten to the point that I'm going to ask for help
on
this
one.
I have a SBS2K3Premium server and added a Win2K3Standard TS
server
ages
ago.
Lately I let slip that the TS could be accessed through the RWW,
so
I
modified the registry to allow the TS to show up in the RWW
users
site.
It
wasn't there, so I removed the TS from the domain, added the TS
server in
"Server Management - Set Up Server Computers" and joined it to
the
domain
with the http://sbserver/connectcomputer and voila it shows up
in
the RWW
users site menu, job is done.
After a few hours it's gone, no longer found on the RWW Users
Site.
I've
removed and added the TS in and out of the domain around ten
times
now
with
similar results. I've been through the whitepapers as well to
make
sure I've
been doing it the MS way. It's always available to the Admin
Group
without
fail.
