WAP vendor. Netgear WAG102 w/ latest firmware, 2.05

I have not worked with this WAP, but I like NetGear, especially the boxes
with
the industrial-strength blue metal cases! 8-)

Based on what I read in the Reference Manual, am I correct to assume you
have
this network configured for WPA with TKIP? WPA+AES is not supported by
this
WAP and WPA2 is not currently supported in GPOs, which leaves WPA+TKIP.

So you must configure the wireless GPO for WPA+TKIP rather than WPA+AES.
I
mention this because while my docs briefly discuss TKIP, they encourage
the use
of AES. I just want to be sure you did not take that as a requirement.

One other thing I will mention ... I have seen a couple of cases where the
latest firmware for a device was actually buggier than an earlier version.
I
have primarily seen this with LinkSys consumer-grade devices (including a
wireless router). I am not saying this is the case with the WAG102. But
if it
is easy to temporarily downgrade the WAG102 to the prior release, it may
be
worth a try _if_ the client-side fixes don't help. I still think this is
a
wireless NIC, PC or configuration issue, but I could be wrong.

Well gentlemen, I've spent the entire afternoon and evening working on this
and I'm still in the same boat. My laptop with the Intel nic acquires an IP
a second or two after the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen comes up and the Dell 1450
won't acquire an IP until a user logs in.

Any other suggestions or ideas?
