RE: Migration to SQL 2005 for Workgroups

Thank you for the response. However, you forgot to answer 1 question:

How can I tell there's nothing left behind after the upgrade of Sharepoint??
i.e. Why would other 3rd party applications report the version of
Sharepoint as non-SP3 compliant ??

Veritas is very compatible with Microsoft products.

Hi,

Thank you for your update.

First I just want to list the detailed upgrade steps for your reference,
please confirm you do this action properly. After upgrade to SQL 2005, the
sharepoint will use SQL 2005 instance indeed.

Secondary, since this error message appears during install Veritas, please
understand that BackupExec is a third-party application produced by Veritas
independent of Microsoft. Veritas BackuExec Utility provides completely
different mechanism from Microsoft NTBackup to backup Server. At this
point, you should contact Symantec support center to verify the
compatibility with Windows productions.

For your convenience, I'd suggest that you run the following command at the
command prompt:

osql -E -S <sbsservername>\sharepoint -Q "SELECT @@VERSION" -o
"C:\sqlversion.txt"

Then open C:\sqlversion.txt and check the version of the SHAREPOINT
instance. If it has been successfully upgraded, you should see the
following:

Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.xxx (Intel X86)
<date time>
Cop
yright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation
Standard Edition on Windo
ws NT 5.2 (Build 3790: )

Thanks for your time.

Best Regards,

Chace Zhang (MSFT)
