My question was a litte different but I like your suggestion. I was
wondering if it's possible to setup a "dialup by default" experience,
where the user can observe that they are "dialing into" the VPN server
but it doesn't require them to know that they need to. This would in
effect make the remote login somewhat foolproof.

I'm going to find a way to do that.

I'm not quite sure if I understand your question but if you mean if there
is
a way to enforce that the user logs into the laptop under the domain
instead
of a local profile, it's very easy. You change all usernames and/or
passwords for the local accounts. That way the user has to log in under
his/her domain account.

cjobes,

I've always wondered about this. Is there a way to "enforce" that a
connection should be made before the user successfully logs in? It
would be nice to automate the availability of mapped drives for mobile
VPN users so that connectivity to the office for them is seamless.

Have the user log into the domain once while connected to your LAN.
After
that the user can always log in under the domain because the laptop
uses
the
cached information.

I have a SBS2003 R2 at home.
One of my users has a laptop, that is a member of the domain. After
I
made
the laptop a member of the domain I got the Connect To Small
Business
Server
VPN connection, which I can use after the user logs on.

I'd like the user to log on to the domain using this VPN connection,
but
it
is not available.

What can I do?
