Hello Customer,
Thank you for posting here.
According to your description, I understand that you can't use Outlook to
open the newly created mailbox account which is hidden from GAL. If I have
misunderstood the problem, please don't hesitate to let me know.
If you have chosen to hide the account from the GAL, you can't open the
account inbox folder and you can't create an Outlook profile to access this
mailbox, because you have to account GAL first for these configuration.
There are 3 suggestions for this issue:
1. Do not hide this account from GAL at beginning, then:
1): Grant "Send As" permission:
-. Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
-. Click View tool button and check Advanced Features.
-. Right click on the new created acccount (userB) and click Properties.
-. On the Security tab, click Add.
-. Add the original user (userA) and grant with "send as" permission.
-. Click OK.
2). Then configure the current user to use the addition mailbox using the
steps below:
How to Manage Multiple Exchange Mailbox Accounts:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=291626
3). After you correctly configure your Outlook client and ensure it can
access the mailbox without problem, and then you can choose to hide it from
GAL. This Outlook will still access the mailbox.
2. Use other methods to access this mailbox, OWA, POP3, IMAP4 and so on.
They are being all ok when you enable the features in Exchange server side.
3. Use forwarding feature
In Active Directory Users and Computers, open Properties for this
account->Exchange General->Delivery Options->Forward to:
1) Forward to another mailbox
2) Forward to a mail enable public folder
Then you can check the mails from another mailbox or from public folders.
The new account do not use for domain client logon, you have to ensure the
account no need to change its password. To do so, in Active Directory Users
and Computers, open Properties for this account-> Account tab, clear the
User must change password at next logon check box.
If the issue persists, collect some more information for further
investigation:
1. Create another mail account. Can you open this account's mailbox?
2. What kind your client application is?
3. Is there any error message when you try to open the mailbox?
4. Send the screen-shot for this issue to my working mailbox:
v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hope this helps. Please let me know the results so that I can provide
further assistance on this problem. I am looking forward to your reply.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)

| I am using Exchange SP2 that was bundled with SBS 2003. I also am using
| Norton's Premium Anti-Spam that was an add-on to their Internet Mail
| Security for Exchange software. It has been working very well until
recently
| where a lot more spam has been getting thru than normal. I have been able
to
| tweak the values in the anti-spam software to catch the new spam but now
it
| rarely catches good email. Unfortunately they don't have a queue to be
able
| to go thru them and send the good emails along so it's either don't allow
| them, tag them, or let them all thru. I thought it might be easy to
create a
| user acct named "SPAM" and have all the emails tagged and sent to this
acct
| so the users don't have to see the spam and I can weed thru them
occasionaly
| and send on the good ones. However, I can't open the newly created SPAM
| user's inbox since I have chosen to hide it from the GAL for obvious
| reasons.
|
| Any suggestions??
|
| Thanks!
