Hello Ezra,
Thank you for posting here.
From your post, I understand that you internal workstations can't accessInternet after removing ISA 2004 from SBS 2003. If I am off base, please
feel free to let me know.
First, you have to make sure your SBS 2003 server have right network
configuration. Go through the follow KB and Rerun CEICW again carefully.
How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825763/en-us
If you get error message when running CEICW, please send follow files to my
working mailbox: v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx for further investigation.
1. The icwlog.txt file in the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small
Business Server\Support" folder.
2. The icwdetails*.htm in the "C:\Program files\Microsoft Windows Small
Business Server\Networking\ICW\" folder.
Second, I suspect the problem could be related to the proxy setting. When
ISA is installed, the firewall client automatically configures the proxy
setting in IE on behalf of the client computer. Once the ISA is removed,
the proxy setting remains in IE, however, since the ISA's web proxy engine
is no longer available, the IE will fail to access any external websites.
So please open IE on workstations, click Tools->Internet Options, and click
Connections->LAN Settings, remove ALL the options to clear the proxy
setting. Then relaunch IE to test the issue.
Meanwhile, please also ensure the default gateway of workstation is
pointing to the internal interface of the SBS Server.
If the issue persists, please help to collect some more information for
further investigation:
Gather ipconfig/all result on both the workstation and the SBS Server.
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)

| Hello-
|
| I have encountered a problem after removing ISA 2004 from my test SBS
| 2003 network. I removed the client firewalls first, uninstalled ISA
| 2004, and reran CEICW.
|
| Everything seems to work well except for one big problem: none of the
| workstations can access the Internet. The server can access the
| Internet fine. The workstations can access companyweb OK, but not any
| external site. This is true not only for a named URL but also for a
| dotted quad address. Any attempt just generates a "This page cannot be
| displayed" error. Also, no pings get through.
|
| To check that it wasn't a workstation configuration problem I prepped
| a fresh PC, ran connectcomputer on it and tried to access an external
| site but no go. Same problem.
|
| Any ideas would be quite helpful.
|
| Thanks,
|
| Ezra Herman
