It does seem to be a hungry beast. You can move the Windows Update
uninstall stuff (you might even delete it, there's not much chance
of unravelling upgrade problems after a month or two) and you may
find that you have a lot of log files.

Have a look in %windir%\system32\LogFiles. None of this stuff seems
ever to be deleted, though the files are closed at a certain size.
Depending on your luck, you might gain half a gig here.
