Hello Bill,
Thanks for posting here.
Generally speaking, Event ID 14079 is a generic ID in ISA for when the
service stops unexpectedly. If there is no third-party filter installed,
this could also be an expected behavior. It is normal to get the event
14079 on the SBS server with ISA 2004. You may safely ignore the error.
If you frequently received event 14079 on the SBS box, I suggest you redo
the SBS monitoring wizard, as this appears to get rid of this bogus event.
For detailed information, please refer to the following KB article:
You receive a false positive Firewall service error message on your ISA
Server 2004 computer
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/840180
Could you please let me know if you have run the CEICW after installing the
ISA components? Please open Server Management console, navigate to 'To Do
List' and click 'Connect to the internet' in the right panel. The wizard
can help us configure the networking settings for a SBS server. It
automatically creates the ISA rules for internet access and site
publishing. It's strongly recommended to use the wizard to configure the
SBS server. More info:

2003

The problem may be caused by Anti-Virus software. You can refer to this KB
document for detailed resolution:
Event ID 5, event ID 14079, and event ID 14176 are logged in the
Application log on your Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000
computer (Also feasible for ISA 2004):
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;887311
If you have installed the third-party filters, please try to disable or
remove the third-party components. Then monitor the log.
Meanwhile, you can also send me the ISA info/ISAbpa so that I can help you
check if your ISA Server is correctly configured:
1. Please help to gather the ISA Info:
1) Download the file from the following URL:
http://www.isatools.org/isainfo/ISAInfo.zip
2) Extract all files to a folder on ISA server.
3) Double click Isainfo.js. This will generate 2 files
ISAInfo2004-<computer-name>.log and ISAInfo2004-<computer-name>.xml in the
current folder.
4) Please send these files to me at v-terliu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
2. Please follow the link and download and run the Microsoft Internet
Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2004 Best Practices Analyzer Tool
and then send me the results
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=D22EC2B9-4CD3-4BB6-
91EC-0829E5F84063&displaylang=en
I hope the above information helps. Please feel free to let me know if you
have further concerns.
Have a nice day!
Best regards,
Terence Liu(MSFT)
