Thanks Bill, sorry for long delay, client has finally decided to go ahead
with IP range change. have takenJennys notes on board and will read the

From the description, I understand that you want to change the IP range
of
a SBS 2000 server. If I am off the base, please don't hesitate to let
me
know.

In SBS 2000 environment, we can not simple change the internal IP range
by
re-run ICW wizard because the SBS 2000 server is a domain controller
and
this IP is the main connection of the server box. As Steve said, in SBS
2003, there is a utility named Change Server IP that can automatically
do
the procedure.

Since this is a SBS 2000 environment, we need to manually change the
settings. Here, I would like to suggest you try the following steps:

1. On the SBS server, open the properties of the local network
connection.
Change the IP address in TCP/IP properties window.

2. Open SBS administrator console, navigate to ''To Do List'', click
''Internet connection wizard'' to rerun ICW. Configure ICW with the new
IP
addresses.

3. Open DNS console in Administrative Tools. In the DNS console,
right-click ServerName, choose ''Properties''. In the Interfaces tab,
change the IP address to new one.

4. Open DHCP console in Administrative Tools. Right-click the server
and
choose Delete. Then, add a new server with current IP address to the
console tree. Create a new scope with the new IP subnet x.x.x.x. Check
the
configurations in Server Options. After doing this, right-click the
server
and choose Authorize.

5. Open WINS console in Administrative Tools. Right-click the server
and
choose Delete. Add a new server with the current IP address into the
console tree. Open Services console, stop WINS service, delete the old
WINS
database information (Delete the contents of %systemroot%\system32\WINS
folder) and then restart the WINS services.

6. If any clients are using static addresses, please update the TCP/IP
settings on the client computers with the new Server information. If
the
clients are using DHCP, you will need to release and renew toget the
new
DHCP information:

Open a command prompt, type the following commands:

IPCONFIG /RELEASE

IPCONFIG /RENEW

7. Open the registry with REGEDT32 and navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Fpc\Arrays\{GUID number
here}\Servers\{GUID number here}

The key is called msFPCIntraArrayAddress. Double click the key and
change
this value to reflect the new internal IP address.

8. Restart the SBS server.

SBS 2003 has a nice change internal IP wizard. No such thing for 2000
so
you
must muck around manually. Why aren't you upgrading to SBS 2003 anyway
since
it has so many new and improved features and security?

Can I just re-run the ICW to change my internal IP scheme ?
Obviously I would have to release/renew the IP on the clients and
note
any
statics like Print servers etc.
