It now just gives a one plain text line database connection error (STS
I think, but thats from memory and my memory is shot)
Look in the event logs again when your memory returns....
I reran the internet and email wizard and the remote access one for
good measure.
Do you live far away? Would you like to swap identities? :-D
Well, I could probably spare one of my personalities, but I'm not sure
you'll want it. It's a bit soiled from years of use, and wasn't an awfully
pleasant one to begin with, IIRC.
I think formatting it would be easier - there are only 8 users and I
have spent a couple of days on it. Its beginning to make me unhappy...
I can see that....but are these 8 users "heavy" users? Do you want to play
with exmerge and desktop profiles and all that?
Of all the SBS machines i have put in the companyweb has worked
straight out the box and this is the only company who actually want to
use the *expletive* thing!!
I have a love/hate relationship with Sharepoint...but I am most frequently
on "mild dislike".

I ran the wizards - but i fear i may have run them in the wrong
order or annoyed it by telling it there wasn't an internet
connection (which at that time there wasn't).
You can re-run the CEICW....
Have tried the process you linked to and it now gives a different
error...
Which is ?
I think its going to be a format job.
Hope not, but you could be right - depends on what is wrong, and how
much time/effort you want to spend untangling it.
As to my twin, perhaps we are both morally ambiguos. Which is a tad
unfortunate as I can't spell it.
That is sad indeed. You were close - ambiguous. I think. Crap, now
I'm starting to doubt myself!

Hi,
I am having some difficulty with the Companyweb on my SBS2003
server - I have run through various processes of fixing it,
uninstalling it, reinstalling it etc as per various articles found
trawling through the groups.
I messed about with the ASP.NET stuff and got a different error
coming up, but am now back to Cannot access database error.
I have a nasty feeling its because i didnt run the wizards in the
right order on account of our ADSL being held up for nearly a
month and a half past its activation date and some posts say this
can be a problem.
Is there anyway I can fix this without rebuilding the server? I
can access the exchange web stuff, but not the /remote or the
monitoring pages.
Any help greatly appreciated before i run away to Mexico and
pretend to be my twin brother.

Re wizards - yes, you absolutely need to use all the wizards, even
when it pains your vanity or common sense. SBS is a tightly
integrated system and does not necessarily work the way you think
it does, under the skin. Do not play around with IIS, ASP stuff
unless you're really sure what you're doing. Do not taunt Happy
Fun Ball.
Re activation - you could do that over the phone, you know. Re the
configuration of the server itself, your Internet connection
doesn't really matter - use a router that does NAT (ideally, it's
also a good firewall) between your LAN and the Internet, even if
you're using ISA. That way, whatever happens outside your LAN
doesn't change your internal settings.
Can you uninstall & reinstall Sharepoint?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829114 may help....
PS: I've met your twin brother. He maintains that *you're* the evil
twin, btw.
